‘Office’ fourth-season finale focuses on Toby’s going-away party
Details: The fourth season finale, titled “Goodbye, Toby,” is an hour long. “The Office” finishes up its strike-shortened season by (possibly) bidding adieu to one of the Dunder Mifflin crew with an hour-long episode titled “Goodbye, Toby,” airing tonight at 9 on WbrE-TV, Channel 28.
It seems sad sack Toby (Paul Lieberstein) is resigning and moving to Costa Rica, as he indicated a few episodes ago. Ecstatic that his long-time nemesis will finally be out of his hair, Michael (Steve Carell) decides to throw a huge bon voyage party. Whether Toby actually leaves is anyone’s guess.
When the new HR woman, Holly (guest star Amy Ryan, who received an Oscar nomination this year for her work in the film, “Gone, Baby, Gone”) arrives, Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Meredith (Kate Flannery) take it upon themselves to haze her. Meanwhile, Angela (Angela Kinsey), refuses her usual party planning duties, so Michael turns the planning committee over to Phyllis (Phyllis Smith).
Last week’s episode, “Job Fair,” found Pam again considering career opportunities away from the Dunder Mifflin receptionist desk, and Jim desperately trying to snag a new client in the wake of scheming Ryan putting him on probation. Also, Dwight and Angela’s scenes in the empty office hinted at a potential reconciliation. Expect these plot lines to play themselves out tonight.
