I spent the last 4 years there as an active duty member of the US Air Force.I recently read a quote you made during the filibuster by Sen. Chris Dodd- “Some people in this chamber love the Constitution more than they love the safety of this nation.We should all send President Bush a letter thanking him for protecting us.”I would like to remind you what the constitution is.It’s a contract between the government and the people, wherein the people give the government power so long as the government abides by the contract. For the government to choose to ignore any part of the contract renders the contract void.I swore to uphold the constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. While I agree with Sen. Dodd on very little, I admire him for standing up for the constitution.If you don’t like it, change it- there is a process for doing so. If it’s really that crucial that telecoms have retroactive immunity for violating the 4th amendment, propose a new amendment. Don’t pass a law ignoring it.Thank you,X

I have to agree with the part about Parisians never saying they like anything. This used to drive me nuts when I lived there. It was always “pas mal” (”not bad”).

Yeah… so my mom, who is a die-hard francophile (taught French in high school, struggles half way through French literature before finally giving up, etc.), finally gets her little trip to Paris that she needs to do at least once before she dies.She’s in the hotel room and needs to get the phone number for a restaurant; so, she dials the operator, attempts to obtain the phone number, gets accused of being drunk and get hung up on.Quintessential Paris.How does the saying go?Young Girls want ponies and horses; as they age those desires drift towards Paris.
