London police say they will not investigate whether Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell perjured himself during an inquest into her death. Burrell, who lives in Central Florida, gave three days of testimony during the inquest before returning home and being caught on a hidden camera saying he had not been completely truthful. He sent a statement to the hearing denying he lied but has refused to return to London to explain himself. Scotland Yard said Friday that there is not enough evidence to justify a perjury investigation. Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, died in a Paris car crash in 1997. A jury in the inquest found that Diana and Fayed were unlawfully killed because of the recklessness of her driver, who also died in the accident, and of pursuing paparazzi.
Hogan’s son sentenced: A judge in Clearwater ended Nick Bollea’s life in the fast lane. The 17-year-old son of wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan on Friday was sentenced to eight months in county jail after he pleaded no contest to causing a crash in August that seriously injured his best friend. He was immediately led out of the court to begin his sentence.
Novel plans: Actor Johnny Depp’s half-brother Daniel will publish his first novel. Loser’s Town follows a private detective called in when a Hollywood star begins receiving death threats. Daniel Depp struck a deal with Simon and Schuster.
