This new trend of starting sentences with "So" is really getting on my nerves. This log is riddled with it. I see it a lot here on Reddit and Digg.Where did it come from? It's gotten a lot worse in the last year.

I'm assuming most redditers are socially inept like me. Why am I asking? Heck, why not. A miracle could occur and a hot redditer near me might get in touch. Then again, pigs may fly.

I'll add more context because I see I'm being downmodded:I am actually a female who's casually looked through online personals. I would swear most of them are posted via drunken monkeys pounding randomly at a keyboard. Hence, my above comment was made in full sincerity -- personals that use full sentences do stand out above the rest.To give more insight into the content of the personal, however, I found it rather bland. The "either jeans or a suit" line is especially cliched. So many personals have this that it's almost meaningless. I was going to say to give more concrete examples of stuff you do, but rereading it I see that you did mention e.g., your 5K run, writing, so I guess you do have that covered. The paragraph that starts "I enjoy being romantic..." is going to be chancy for you. A lot of women will probably look at that and go "ew, desperate dweeb" -- but the women who look at it and think it's charming are probably the types you'd like more anyway, so it might function as a good gatekeeper for you.

I see it and hear it more and more all the time. I just decided to comment on it now. I first noticed it listening to some Microsoft hack on a technology podcast. I'd say 80% of every answer he gave began with "So".Not that I've pointed it out, you'll see it too, and you are doomed to madness.
