US Census Bureau Daily Feature for April 13
WASHINGTON, April 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Following is the daily “Profile America” feature from the U.S. Census Bureau: SUNDAY, APRIL 13: BUBBLE GUM Profile America — Sunday, April 13th. One of the joys of American youngsters and big league baseball players was invented by accident in 1928 bubble gum. Walter Diemer, an accountant for the Fleer Chewing Gum Company in Philadelphia, brewed up an experimental batch that was less sticky than regular gum and also stretched more easily. Seeing that it would make bubbles, he took a 5-pound chunk to a local grocery store, where eager youngsters bought it all in a single afternoon. Diemer’s invention was pink because that was the only food color on hand when he made the first batch. Americans buy a half billion pounds of all forms of chewing gum each year worth more than $2.5 billion. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau on the Web at http://www.census.gov. I don’t get it.
timely political humour eh? buried.
how hack is this joke, and like voting in different lying scumbags would make a difference.
A day on digg without political opinion is not really a day on Digg…
This illustration should really include the whole National Mall.
Buried for idiotic.
It’s true. Many of us are the only ones to blame. It’s utterly shocking how many people actually voted for Bush II (v 2). Even people on Digg voted for nutjob the second time. Thank goodness for the 22nd amendment.
I love political comics.
I don’t understand what the joke is at all. Don’t vote? April fools? Huh?
Ok, mabey I am the only one… But I think it would have been a stronger political cartoon if you take of the bottom part of it.
lqtm
more true than funny
It would have made more sense if it started on June, July….May, April FOOLS,duh.
If only they were just fools. But they are criminals too which makes the foolishness scarier.
i opened this page at 911 diggs…
