Illinois Stuns Purdue In Big Ten Quarters
Indianapolis, IN — (Sports Network) - Demetri McCamey shot 9-of-14 from the floor, including a perfect 6-for-6 from beyond the arc, en route to a 26-point performance, as Illinois upended 17th-ranked Purdue, 74-67, in overtime in the quarterfinalsof themen’s Big Ten Basketball Tournament at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Shaun Pruitt scored 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting for the Fighting Illini (15-18), who became the first 10th seed to advance to the semifinals in tournament history. Illinois will face either 22nd-ranked Indiana or Minnesota on Saturday. Mike Davis added 10 points off the bench.
“I’m just happy we were able to find a way to win a game and get to play another day and continue to enjoy the season,” Illinois coach Bruce Weber said.
E’Twaun Moore had 22 points, while Keaton Grant tallied 12 for the second- seeded Boilermakers (24-8), who have dropped two of their last three outings. Robbie Hummel finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Chris Kramer donated nine points in the loss.
