Two Churchill County couples took Valentine’s Day to another level Thursday afternoon by tying the knot in justice court.
Mark Williams and Annette Burgess were the first couple that Fallon Justice of the Peace Mike Richards married on Thursday.
“I wanted it to be a special day. It’s more special,” Williams said about marrying his wife on the day that is set aside for sweethearts.
“She will be my Valentine every day,” he said while looking deeply into her eyes.
Burgess said her husband picked this special day so he would not forget their anniversary.
“He’s my true love,” she said of the man she met through the Internet in 2004.
Williams said he decided in December they should try to get married on Valentine’s Day.
Burgess said she is happy the two finally married.
“It really was unexpected, but I am glad,” she said. “It feels good that we are legal.”
Williams moved to Fallon from California after retiring from the U.S. Navy and traveled to Tennessee, where Burgess lived, to drive her back to Churchill County.
She said every time her new husband touches her, she falls more in love.
“I come to life and he rekindles my spirit,” she said, adding they developed a friendship before starting their romance.
The second couple Richards married on Valentine’s Day was Justin Lewis and Miriam Ismail.
As the two were married, Ismail’s mother cried throughout the ceremony.
The bride said the day of the wedding had little to do with it being Valentine’s Day.
“It was my only day off,” she said, adding she met her husband in church.
Lewis, who will be deployed in December, said exchanging marriage vows on Valentine’s Day was an added bonus.
“It was a big plus, and a day we won’t forget,” he said, adding it was a good day to be married even if it was a “little cheesy.”
Ismail said she and her husband decided to get married on Valentine’s Day a couple of weeks ago.
“It was awesome,” she said.

Except fewer people know who the hell Stallman even is. Because of that Stallman fails.
Whippersnapper. I’ve got an ancient babylonian cuneiform tablet saying “I kiss you!!!!”

Dragons were named after Bruce Lee.
You don’t already have a copy? Man, when it came out on DVD, I bought it right away. It’s “You are the Last Dragon, you possess the power of the glow”, btw.
rms never ceases to amaze me.
You think a guy who doesn’t use a web browser is going to use a client configured to display - or even capable of displaying - HTML?
I never got Theo de Raadt’s hate for RMS. It’s like kicking a puppy.
From his Wikipedia bio: He occasionally goes to science fiction conventionsThat’s about all I need to know about him.
Can somebody run wget and email the files to Stallman? I’m sure he’d get a kick out of this.
The output of Bruce Schneier’s pseudorandom generator follows no describable pattern and cannot be compressed.
Yeah, that is the real problem with internet. I usually feel much much more productive, when I’m isolated from internet during travels and such, and I can focus fully on the task I’m working on.Now, I’ve got a HSDPA, actually it was three months ago, but I haven’t connected it yet. (The card need to be configured on Windows before I can use it on my computer…) but it worries me a little. Then those moments when I’m travelling and feel really productive may be threatened.I should do as Stallman, but it requires a very very strong discipline to do that.
That one guy who wrote a 500,000 line Java MUD?
